Since the #BlackLivesMatter protests began a couple weeks ago, my heart has longed to do more than just be a Facebook warrior. I finally decided- why not use the talent I have to make a statement? And so the Women Stand United project was born. I reached out to my circle of babes, and recruited some badass women to do this shoot. I asked each of them to bring a sign with the message they wanted to share. I hope you are inspired by this photo series to do what you can to help your fellow humans find justice and peace, and bring an end to racism and police violence once and for all.
Racism is all over the world but the justice is nowhere.
Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.
I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.
Unity- to be real- must stand the severest strain without breaking.
You can always tell who the strong women are- they are the ones building one another up, instead of tearing each other down.
Women coming together is change.
Women staying together is power.
Women having each other's back is the movement we need, now, then, and forever.
There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.
A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.
